Good morning, Wi-Fi land all over the world. Today we greet you in the name of he who not only calls the infinite number of the stars of heaven by name but also knows the tears of every single broken heart. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be glory both now for and forever more. Amen. Well, we're all concerned in one degree or another about our clothing. And the fashion industry itself is ginormous. Its sales reached a whopping $1.9 trillion dollars in 2025. People everywhere wear some kind of clothing and many are quite fashion conscious as to what they wear. I'm sure we all try to dress appropriate appropriately for whatever the occasion might be. For instance, if you're a farmer, you wouldn't normally wear your work clothes to a funeral or a wedding or a church service. And if you're a lifeguard, you wouldn't want to wear your swimsuit to a baseball game. No. In every society, there's an accepted norm of clothing for different occasions. And the same can be said spiritually. God has an appropriate way for the believer to spiritually dress. And God's thoughts about dress have to do with the outward character we wear before him. and others. He wants us to dress with the character of his son. Romans 13:14, but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 3:3, whose adorning, let it not be that outward adorning, of braiding of hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel, but let it be the hidden person of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God, great price. Amen. And just as we all change our clothes when they're dirty, so the Bible speaks of our need to change our spiritual clothing. Our proud proud attitude, our ungodly character in the BC era of our lives before Christ needs to be changed. It needs to be taken off. Now, usually we wash our dirty clothes, but our old admic nature is so absolutely corrupted and filthy that it can never be cleansed. It can't be washed. And that clothing is never to be worn again by the believer. Instead, the clothing of the old man with his habits and ways are to be buried, never to be dug up. So when we were waterbaptized, we weren't spiritually naked. On the contrary, we were spiritually clothed. We were clothed with the filthiness and foul depravity of our unholy lives without Christ. But glory to God, in Christ, we shall never be seen by heaven dressed in that wardrobe again. Of course, we can't just talk about new garments. We are exhorted that in the power of God's spirit, we are to wear those new garments. Ephesians 4:22, that ye put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust, and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Colossians 3:12, "Put on therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humility of mind, meekness, longsuffering, forbearing one another, and forgiving one another. If any man have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye." And above all these things, put on charity. Amen. Now, let's consider for a moment the beginning of the fashion industry itself. Of course, the fashion industry began with the first tailor and seamstress, Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:7. And the eyes of them were both opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. But sewed fig leaves are never appropriate dress before God. In other words, we should not try to hide the truth of our sins from God. God provided Adam and Eve his own covering for their shame and their nakedness. Genesis 3:21. Unto Adam also, and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothe them. So it was not the works of the first tailor that was accepted but the work of the second tailor God himself and the material for God's clothing came by the death of another picturing the Lord Jesus praise his name. So we thank God through our Lord Jesus Christ that by grace he has become our tailor and that we have been clothed in the very righteousness of God in Christ. Glory to God in Jesus name. Amen.
