IDENTITY song
Transcription
Identity. What do you see from heaven above when you look down past the stars to me? You say you've washed me in His precious blood, and no sin or stain is there to see. But what you see and what my mirror sees are very different indeed. And I find it hard to believe that a new creation I can be.
I want to see what you see me to be and not what my mirror tells. A man in Christ is what you've made me to be, and I want to be nothing else.
But I struggle and try to fix the things that hold on to me. But somehow, the harder I try, the harder it gets to be free. The things that I do, I don't want to do, and the things I want to do, I can't. There's a dark cloud hovering over me, and I'm troubled within. I feel trapped, and I can't get away from the sin within me. Oh, wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me?
And then I saw the truth of God and my identity. I was trying to be someone God had already made me to be.
I died with Christ, and the old man is dead, and I live because He rose up again. My life is in Him and my identity; my acceptance is in Christ and not in me.

My acceptance is in Christ and not in me, and God's Word is the mirror of my identity. Amen.
